AUDITION NOTICE - SOPRANO 

Luminescence Chamber Singers welcomes applicants for the role of Soprano. This is an annual contract encompassing approximately 16 - 20 weeks of work annually, as a member of a professional six voice ensemble. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in classical and contemporary styles.

ABOUT LUMINESCENCE

Luminescence has rapidly emerged as one of Australia’s most exciting ensembles. In addition to an annual concert season, and appearing at a range of special events and festivals, Luminescence maintains a commissioning and creative development program; recording activity; touring activity across regional and metropolitan NSW, Victoria, South Australia; a young artist ensemble (Luminescence Children’s Choir), and related education/outreach activities.  Recent performance highlights have included appearances at the Melbourne Recital Centre (2024), Festival of Voices, Hobart (2024), Canberra International Music Festival (2017-2024),  Sydney Opera House (2023), major collaborations with the National Museum of Australia (2022; 2024) and the National Gallery of Australia (2023), and residencies at Four Winds, Bermagui (2024). 

Luminescence  works closely with conductor and director Roland Peelman AM, a regular guest conductor and artistic mentor for the ensemble. 

CONTRACT DETAILS
Singers are contracted on an annual basis, paid by the call or for project-specific fees. Singer fees sometimes vary according to project requirements, but typical engagements are paid at a rate of $230 p call + superannuation. 

Luminescence rehearses and performs according to an annual schedule agreed in advance of each year. While the 2025 programme of activities and schedule is not yet finalised, the 2025 draft schedule encompasses approximately 20 weeks of work across the year. APPLICATIONS

To apply, please fill in this application form. You will be asked to submit a CV/resume, and two contrasting video clips. Please upload your recordings to an unlisted (not private) YouTube link and submit the link.

Please send two contrasting video clips of at least 1 minute in length. The first item should be an unaccompanied folk song. The second item can be anything you feel shows your voice at its best - song, aria, early music , pop, - all welcome. We would recommend that you choose repertoire that demonstrates a diversity of style/technique. Edited submissions cannot be accepted.

Selected applicants will be invited to audition in Canberra or Sydney throughout October and November 2024. Singers invited to audition with the full ensemble will be sent two items from our repertoire to prepare in advance, and will be asked to read one early-music piece with the group. Although applications will remain open until the contract has been offered/accepted, we encourage singers to get in touch early in order to be considered for audition dates in Oct/Nov 2024.
