We rely on a small network of generous hosts who offer a spare room to visiting artists, including members of the Luminescence Chamber Singers travelling from surrounding cities and guest artists. Visiting artists are typically in Canberra for a period of 2 – 7 nights.

 Hosts help us enormously, without needing to offer too much of their time. They get to know and socialise with our artists, both interstate and local.

Hosting artists is a non-ongoing commitment, specific to particular concerts/events.   

Luminescence is an artist-led organisation, with no administrative staff on hand to help manage behind the scenes. We are always eager to hear from people willing to lend a hand in the office, which can include helping with ticketing, the music library, preparing scores, and communications.  

Volunteers involved in event production help ensure that our concerts run smoothly. They help set up performance spaces and liaise with artists backstage to make sure everyone is where they need to be!

Production volunteers help bring concerts to life. They see ‘behind the scenes’, get to know our singers, and can gain valuable industry experience in production, stage management, and event management.

Volunteers with special skills or interests in audio or visual production can be involved in helping us create digital content, as well as ensuring concerts are  beautifully presented.  

Luminescence is always looking to expand our fundraising capacities. Volunteers who are passionate about helping ensure we have the necessary funds to run our future programs can help in a wide variety of ways, including hosting fundraising events. Volunteers involved in fundraising have a direct hand in bringing our programs to life.   

Supervisors are the heroes of Luminescence Children’s Choir. They attend our weekly rehearsals. help to manage chorister drop off and pick up, and chaperone the choir back-stage and on tour to make sure choristers are ready to perform.

Supervisors are a first port of call for chorister well-being. They help care for choristers in the event of illness, injury, or other circumstances, and become ‘choir parents’ to many of Luminescence’s youngest singers.

Supervisors get to know our LCC creative team and our choristers very well. They witness the music gradually come to life each week in rehearsals, see our choristers grow up, and are an integral part of the Luminescence family.
