Christmas in Ukraine

The Ukrainian singer and bandura player Larissa Kovalchuk has been forced to withdraw from Sunday’s concert due to COVID-related illness. We are fortunate that the Phoenix Collective String Quartet, led by Dan Russell, is prepared to present a full concert program.

In the absence of Larissa, the concert has lost most of its specific Ukrainian content, but the people of Ukraine remain foremost on our mind. The quartet will play Myroslav Skoryk’s Melody at the end of the concert and is dedicating its performance of Vivaldi’s Winter and Summer to all Ukrainians who are now facing a difficult winter.

We wish Larissa a speedy recovery and are grateful to the musicians of Phoenix Collective to step in.

Full details of the amended program are below.
